April has been a mixed month but I did make good progress on games and even some progress in work. It was such a fast month though – albeit that might have been due to the bank holiday weekend and having a good rest then. There should be more four day work weeks!
So I finished up the platinum for Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS5) and it was so worth it. Surprisingly the final fight wasn’t the worst on hard mode in fact the previous chapter boss fights were the worst. I then went through the Yuffie DLC and I liked this but wasn’t a huge fan of being stuck to one character and not being able to switch between them. I think this was just due to spending a lot of time switching in the main game and being used to that. I took a break before even thinking about hard mode for the DLC, it is an option but maybe not something for me right now.
Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga (Xbox) was released and it definitely ticks all the Lego boxes. It does have a lot of collectibles and things to do so it is fairly overwhelming. I have completed the story (all the missions at least once) which as with all Lego games is only a tiny part of it. I’m slowly chipping away at all the other things now but it will take a while to actually finish anything off. I believe I’m now up to around 600 – 700 Kyber bricks and I think I might have 100% completed one planet. I still have a lot to go but it is Lego so it is worth it for me.
I finally got back to Horizon Forbidden West (PS5) to continue my platinum quest and the updates in the meantime have been good to me. So now I have a shiny new platinum! Though going back to this after playing Final Fantasy, Guardians of the Galaxy and Lego Star Wars in between did lead to some very interesting moments as I attempted to relearn the controls (or at least the ones I needed). I’m sad to say goodbye to this one but also relieved I didn’t need to do a full new playthrough just for these events tied into trophies. If they add a new game plus mode I may go back anyway as that was fun to do for Horizon Zero Dawn.
I went back to Guardians of the Galaxy (XSX|S) and finally gave it the attention it deserved. It is such good fun and great music. It definitely got me emotional at the end as well. I absolutely recommend this to either buy or play whilst it is on Game Pass.
Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus (PS4) is a fun FMV game where you have to find out who poisoned Uncle Marcus at a family meeting. There is plenty of family drama and it does make me a little relieved that my family isn’t like this one. If you are thinking of playing this then take note of the content warning for blood, violence and suicide. This has probably become one of my favourite FMV games.
In a break from a game with loads of collectibles (Lego Star Wars) I decided to play SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom (PS4) even though it also involves collectibles. As someone who really only knows SpongeBob from memes it is good, easy fun. Though I am somewhat easily pleased by colourful platformers so this is perfect for me. I’ve currently been to all bar two locations so technically nearly done but lots more socks and spatulas to find.
I also played Persona 3 Dancing in Moonlight (PS4). A fantastic music/rhythm game and added social time with every character. Despite having not played Persona 3 I really enjoyed getting to know the characters better through the social events. The music is fantastic and some of the songs are really difficult especially on higher difficulties but it was so much fun I didn’t even mind when I failed songs.
Bugsnax released its DLC and came to Game Pass so in an effort to convert my husband to the joy of Bugsnax I started it up on Xbox. My husband is less convinced by it but I still love the designs of the snax and the colourful world it has. So I’m now remembering how tricky catching some particular Bugsnax species are.
Hopefully May is as a good a month as April was and I hope it was for you as well!
