E3 2019, June 11 - 13, Los Angeles

An interest from E3

E3 has been and gone once again.  I didn’t manage to watch much live but I have been catching up on what has been announced so I can see what I am likely to be saving for in the future.  It is exciting to find out what is in the pipeline and these are my personal favourites.  However, I believe Adventure Rules summed up E3 perfectly where it might not be for everyone but that’s ok.

Now I have tried to stay away from mentioning the games that I was already interested in, either for myself or for my other half, to make this a more interesting and varied read.   However, the games that fall into this category are as follows. Gears 5, whilst I still have not played a Gears title myself this franchise is one of my other halfs favourites. I watched a good portion of his Gears 4 play through and one day I will finally play these games.  So, I’ll probably be picking this up as a present for him or he will be getting it himself. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order as if you are going to tempt my other half with a game that isn’t Gears then talk about a single player Star Wars game. I am also intrigued with this one and have been waiting for more details on this so seeing a bit more was good.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

We have a release date.  This was technically one I was already interested in but this was more of a rumour than the others so I’m putting it here.  I loved spending my time in my Animal Crossing towns and trying to be friends with all the neighbours. Also that fabulous feeling when you pay off your mortgage is just perfect.  Now this new title has told us about crafting and inviting friends into your game which sound like great fun.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

I played and enjoyed the second game but didn’t experience the original.  However, I am (now) aware that I need more of this. I can’t put my finger on why but I look forward to having this on the Switch.  Maybe I’m just on the lookout for more (Mario and) Luigi fun. It just gives me vibes of a game that I will have a great time playing.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Lego plus Star Wars.  Do I need to say more?  This seems perfect for me.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Although I haven’t played Ori and the Blind Forest this one appeals to me.  Admittedly, I have been saying for a long time that I wanted to play that game but haven’t yet.  This is one that simply looks and sounds beautiful. It is a platforming game, which I do enjoy, and I love the style of this.  Perhaps I should try Ori and the Blind Forest before this one releases to see how I do with Ori games.

Unto the End

This looks like a beautiful game and from what we know I suspect it will be simple yet emotional.  You play as a father journeying back to his family through the wilderness that doesn’t exactly seem friendly (though when does it ever in games).

12 Minutes

This one seems intriguing.  I don’t know what to expect from it but seeing the top down look whilst following a man stuck in a time loop just makes me want to know more.  I think I’ll be keeping an eye out for this one.

So these are the main games that I am interested in following this E3.  What games have interested you this year? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Animal Crossing New Horizons is one that both my SO and I are looking forward to. She’s super big into crafty-survival stuff so the game looks to be even more up her alley than it already was. I’m going to lose her to the Switch when that eventually comes out haha.

The biggest one for me was all of the news that Capcom dropped relating to Monster Hunter World’s expansion. There was also some smaller games announced that I’m looking forward to like Foregone, Songs of Conquest, and Cris Tales, but outside of Cris Tales I don’t have a huge amount of info on them. The playable demo following the reveal of Cris Tales was a nice touch. I wish more devs would do that.

    1. Haha I think if I get the slightest chance everyone will lose me to Animal Crossing as well.

I like when there are demos even now. They can really help and confirm lots of peoples views on if they will pick something up or not. It’s a shame there aren’t more but I’m glad that they still happen.
