Thanks to A Geeky Gal I first read about Fandom Friday. I decided a while ago that I would take part in these sorts of posts. These will cover just my general geekiness as well as gaming things. In some cases it will be one or the other or a mix of both within one post. This is my first ever Fandom Friday and I would start with a prompt that just caught my eye immediately. This prompt, as well as Fandom Friday, was created by Nerdie Girlie.
What are my favourite things that were bought at cons?

I buy a lot of geeky stuff at cons or in shops when I’m given the opportunity. I was once asked what I got for Christmas and this person then said and please don’t say any of that geeky stuff. I’m sorry but I am completely not sorry that most, if not all, of my Christmas presents were geeky in one way or another. I can also safely and happily say that a lot of what I buy myself is geeky, especially when I have been to a con. Here are some things that I have bought at cons.
Adoptable Dittos

I saw these and had to have them. I had to make sure to get 2 so they weren’t lonely (please say I’m not the only person who thinks this way?). I can’t remember who made these so sadly I can’t direct you to the creator but if you happen to have a similar thing or know who created these then let me know and I can add in a link. They are so sweet and sit together quite happily. I love seeing these sat together as their smiles look so cute and happy.
Game Box Coasters

These are so cool and cover some of my favourite nostalgic games. These aren’t really used as coasters but instead act as tiny decorations for on my chest of drawers. Plus as a bonus the Spyro coaster is now guarded by a Spyro keyring.
Super Owls

I met the fantastic Flutterby at a con years and years ago. The first thing I saw on their stall was all the owls and I knew I had to buy at least one. A combination of owls and geeky characters is perfect to me. I bought these little owls and they have been right at home ever since. I wish I had some more because they are just wonderful.
Pikachu Mandala picture

Silhouette Artwork is absolutely lovely. If you happen to see a booth for them at a con go visit and chat. When I bought this picture I was torn between several designs but at the time could only get one so I chose Pikachu because of my love of Pikachu. I have seen some other designs on the Etsy site for holographic pictures that I am seriously tempted by. Oh the temptation so go check out their work.
Pikachu plushies

I’m going to continue the Pikachu theme for my last mention. I have only bought these two at a con because who is going to be able to say no to a Team Rocket Pikachu or a Pirate Pikachu. Well I can’t anyway so they just had to come home with me (and yes as a pair so they weren’t lonely). I got so many comments from others who loved this pair when I was still wandering round the con and kept directing people to the stall where I got them from.
I have other options that I could go with but they also fit with other prompts so keep an eye in future for geeky accessories or jewellery posts.
What are your favourite geeky items that you have bought from cons? Let me know in the comments.
Awesome stuff! I’ve never been to any conventions but would like to go sometime, they seem really fun 🙂

If you ever get the chance to go to one it is well worth it. Lots of things to see (and buy) and you get to meet amazing people from other visitors as well as guests. They are just brilliant fun. The cosplay you see is fantastic as well.

These are all so awesome! Silhouette Artwork are the absolute best, I bought a couple of foil pics from her last year and she helped design my recent tattoo. I’m not sure if they are doing every convention this year as Laura and Joss (I think that’s the guys name but I might have dreamed it!) have moved to France. It is a big loss to the convention scene in the UK!

I know her work is amazing. I saw on the FB page that they had moved to France and won’t be representing much this year which is a sad loss for us. Very exciting for them though! Plus they are definitely worth waiting for. So cool that she helped design your tattoo as well. I think his name is Joss as well but I just wasn’t sure and didn’t want to accidentally call them something else when I could not 100% remember.

So glad you found the prompts!! There’s so many on Nerdy Girlie’s list and you still have DLC’s that you can pick from too. 🙂 I gotta have those coasters though. Those are so cool.

There are so many prompts so I have plenty to get me going. Got some ideas for the next one that appears. Everytime I see a coaster like these I think I should get some more, the problem is choosing the design. I haven’t got any others yet but I’m sure one day there will be some more added.
Also I first saw Fandom Friday on your blog so thank you for the inspiration (and the DLC prompts too!).

I’ve never been to a con, but my friend went and he bought me a signed Mega Man poster, as well as a painted portrait on a wood block of Geralt of Rivia! It looks quite fearsome on my wall! 😛

Wow that sounds amazing. It must look impressive on your wall. It is so nice of your friend to pick up these things for you.

I’m in danger of becoming a hoarder, but I’m looking desperately for a Borderlands 3 Diamond Loot Crate edition, because it comes with 10 figures and I’ve got the IKEA Kallax shelf layout all sorted in my head… alas it is proving difficult to find and they’re about £250 when you do find one! Can I really spend that on collectibles?
If you love something why not!? A constant struggle I have with myself…

I hope you find one of the Borderlands 3 Diamond Loot Crate Edition. It sounds cool, but I feel your pain when it comes to the money side. If it is something you love and you get enjoyment out of it then I’m one for saving for it and at some point picking it up. It can be tricky. Hopefully you find one and for a price you are comfortable with.

Game UK have them up for pre-order and they’re £250 haha. I am about to invoice someone £120 for some work that took me minutes and I feel like treating myself, but it’s just so difficult to justify spending so much money on something that will just sit on shelves!
Then again when I see the pipboy edition of Fallout 4 at my brother in law’s house I get green with envy. He’s hardly even played the game the swine!

Those coasters are awesome. Also really digging the artwork. I don’t have too much stuff myself, but I do have a frame Hollow Knight print from FanGamer and a painted Pokemon picture that a friend bought me at a local art show.
I’ve never actually been to a con, but I have a feeling the merch table would kill my wallet haha.

Haha it’s always a danger when you get to merch stands. There are always so many cool things.

These are great picks. I love the two Dittos you have and have seen Super Owls at cons before.

There are so many options at cons and there are some things that unless I had properly looked I wouldn’t have noticed. Like I could so easily have passed by the dittos but they always make me smile when I see them on the side now.
