This has taken an embarrassing length of time to post. In fact so long that the person who nominated me has moved her blog in between. That and it has passed the six month mark… I love doing these tagged posts but never expect me to do them quickly. Anyway, the wonderful Hannie over at The Hannie Corner, formerly Hannie Bee Games, nominated me for a Sunshine Blogger Award. Now it is sunny outside I’m finally scheduling (and posting) it.
If you don’t know Hannie already I recommend you start with her Video Game Tier List Explanation post. I loved seeing the insights and reasoning she gives for her choices.
The usual rules apply, but I’m going to be naughty and not tag anyone or ask any questions (unless anyone wants to consider themselves tagged and answer the questions I was asked).
Thank the blogger who nominated you.
Answer their questions.

So onto the questions I was asked…
What Twitch streamers do you enjoy watching?
I don’t have much time to watch them now. However, I loved watching Later Levels take part in GameBlast so it’s well worth checking out a Later Levels stream. Plus the more recent Later Levels for Maybe in March have been fantastic. I love seeing Hollie Bennett stream as she seems so lovely and is just so natural when it comes to streaming.
Do you prefer retro or modern gaming?
I enjoy retro but I think I’m more of a modern gamer. Though as we move on some of my favourites are becoming retro.
Do you prefer AAA or indie game releases?
A mix of both. I think you need a bit of both in your gaming life. Both can give very different experiences and seeing the two sides of gaming is worth it.
What is a hidden gem game that you don’t think anyone has played, but deserves more attention?
I don’t know that I find many hidden gems. I get quite a lot of recommendations from other bloggers so I feel like everyone else will know the games. However, I will big up What Remains of Edith Finch at the moment whilst it is still free of PS+.
What game was responsible for your last “game hangover”, where you just couldn’t bring yourself to start a new game after finishing something?
I get this quite a lot. I think the last main one was after Assassin’s Creed Odyssey as I was so brought into this world and wasn’t ready for it to end.
Which video game series needs to quit while they’re ahead and stop making new games?
Honestly I’m not sure. I don’t play Call of Duty but sometimes I wonder if it is worth them continuing to make new ones, or at least new annual releases. Though I could argue FIFA and PES could stop the annual releases as well although I wouldn’t stop them completely.
What game have you put the most hours into across your lifetime?
Probably Pokémon as a series, since I always replayed the older ones. I still venture through the games as slowly as possible just trying to enjoy everything. An individual game I’m not sure. It would probably end up being a game I didn’t expect. The ones I know I have spent over 100 hours on in the last few years include Mass Effect Andromeda, Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey. There are probably others but they all jump to mind.
What is your game of the year so far?
For 2018 (when I was tagged in this) my game of the year was probably Spider-Man or Assassin’s Creed Origins because I had so much fun with them (yes AC Origins wasn’t released last year but I first played it then). This year so far Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Pokémon Let’s Go have been my top games but again neither were released this year. I think if you want my game of the year I always need to put one for released in that year and one for released in any other year because I generally play the games much later than release.
What game have you had polarizing feelings toward, feeling both extreme hate and love for, depending on the moment?
Anything that gives me rage when it gives me a horrible boss to defeat!
At the moment The Division 2 can be this, mainly when a tank gets involved and makes me regret my choices in doing missions or whatever, but I love exploring and collecting the things you discover that help you learn about what has been happening. The difference is I think I am not particularly skilled at this game and that’s where the extreme hate comes in but I actually really enjoy the game so I go back to the love end of the scale when I finally complete something or am exploring. Though now I’m at Level 30 I’m finding it easier, at the beginning it was much more of a hate flipping to enjoyment and back again. That and I’m practiced with the annoying axe wielding guys that run at you – even if my method involves running in circles and firing at them when I’m far enough away and putting my drone up to attack on my behalf.
Which year in gaming history is your favorite in terms of game releases?
Last year is actually one of my favourites. So many amazing games were releases, and so many games that I had great fun with. Some that I still want to pick up because they look/sound like wonderful games. I think we really live in a very lucky time game wise as so many games released today are ones that we could only dream of when we were younger. Though some of my favourite games were released in 1996, 1998, 2009, 2013 and 2015. Plus last year!
If you could go back in time and convince a developer to change one major feature of their game in order to make it better, what game and feature would you change?
I would probably end up making something worse rather than better!
Thanks Hannie for all the questions, check out The Hannie Corner and give her some love.
