February gaming

Another month down already. Sure February is the shortest month of the year but still it has been very busy. February has been a big one for my blog with three blog award posts responded to, community events and just lots of posts in general. March may not be quite as busy but don’t worry I have lots of posts planned out. With February coming to a close, what have I spent the month playing? Did I clear any more games from my backlog? Or did I avoid the games on my backlog? Let’s find out…

I have had one of those months where I have spent time gaming but not really focused on too much as it was like a constant state of “I can’t decide on what to play”. So I jumped around a lot and got further in some games by a lot, even finishing a couple, and then not much further in others but I wasn’t in the right mindset when I tried to play them. Anyone else have months like this? Sadly it wasn’t just limited to my gaming as my other hobbies have experienced the same thing, although my blogging has been pretty good this month even if I do say so myself. Sadly I don’t have too much planned for the months coming up so I have to get writing soon. Enough of that though, what have I played?

Well I did play and complete one game from my backlog that I aimed to complete this year. That is Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (3DS).

I had so much fun with this game and the puzzles. The mix of class Layton puzzle sections and Phoenix Wright courtroom sections is great and seeing the characters solve the bigger mysteries as well as the smaller puzzles is wonderful. I can’t believe it took me so long to get round to playing this. At least it is one game off my list that I was intending to play this year. Admittedly it is the only game I have started off that same list so far… baby steps hey?

That said I have played another couple of games from my backlog. See it’s not all bad! I’ll just need to remind myself of that when it comes to the end of the year and I see if I added more to that backlog than I took off…

Firstly, Tales from the Borderlands (Xbox One).

It is yet another Telltale game that I picked up (this time from Games with Gold) and put on the pile. Part of that is because I have no connection with Borderlands but I enjoy the narrative style of Telltale Games and thought I would try it out, admittedly a similar story to The Walking Dead as I got that first Telltale Series on Gold and have never watched The Walking Dead but love that game. I loved this game, the style, the story, the way they present the characters as they are introduced. I could go on, this is such a good game. Only one more Telltale game to play (Batman The Enemy Within) the I have got rid of my Telltale backlog (for now!). I don’t buy these games when they first come out but seem to manage to amass these… however, nearly through them which is good for my backlog task!

I started playing Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (3DS). I can’t actually remember playing this before, which makes me think I forgot about it. It has been on my backlog but I had actually thought that I had started it at least until I started it to find no save file. Anyway, at least I am playing it now! Though I got to a point and got lost… and then got lost some more. I have taken a little break from this so I can stop being frustrated by me getting lost (not the only time recently, I think getting lost in games is my new favourite thing).

I also started Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (NS) which is great fun. I’m not too far into it at this stage, as like I said I have been bouncing around from game to game, but it is so much fun.

I have completed Pokémon Ultra Sun (3DS).

The story and post credit story bit, not the Pokédex. I class that as complete for my purposes. Still going to come back to it every so often to catch some Pokémon and see what else I can see. I am still planning an update on my first impressions post, but that may take some time. However my poor 3DS is having some issues so I may be in trouble with that soon. Fingers crossed it is ok though.

And of course the games I have been continuing… Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (NS) and Assassin’s Creed Origins (Xbox One). Yeah I certainly pick the long games to play at least at the moment. I have spent a lot of time with Zelda this month, I am mainly just exploring and getting lost… luckily the game is so beautiful getting lost doesn’t matter so much. Got lots more to do and see as I don’t think I have done much of the story yet. Though I didn’t play any Super Mario Odyssey (NS) this month as I was hoping to get to play some other things. Super Mario Odyssey does call me back though as I want to get some more moons and go back into the world.

I also decided to go back to an old game that I have completed a couple of times a few years ago as I was looking for a puzzle game and remembered it. So I started Picross 3D (DS) again. This is probably just because of my bounce around from game to game sort of month but I’m enjoying doing these puzzles again.

What have you been playing this month? Anything you would recommend? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Thanks for the great read! I still haven’t played a single Telltale game, but I hear such great things and want to make the time soon. It sounds like you’ve played through a few of them – is there one you’d recommend trying first?

    1. So in terms of Telltale games I have played they are The Walking Dead (1-3), Guardians of the Galaxy, Tales from the Borderlands, Batman (series 1, though I have the second but not started yet) and Back to the Future. I loved Tales from the Borderlands even with no connection to the Borderlands universe as the way the story is told is fantastic. My other favourite would be The Walking Dead series 1. The others I have enjoyed a lot but they would be my top 2 recommendations.

  2. I need to check out the Telltale games, eventually. Backlog problems… sigh.

But yeah, I’ll be happy if I beat Dragon Age Inquisition this year. Such a freaking huge game! Fun though 🙂

    1. Haha backlog problems indeed. I’m trying to work on mine. Even if just the tiniest of dents in it by the end of this year I will be pleased. Though if I finish either Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild or Assassin’s Creed Origins I will be really pleased. I really should not have started both…

I hope you get there with Dragon Age Inquisition. I haven’t played it but it does seem huge. Glad you are enjoying it.

  3. I just stumbled onto your blog, and I’m wondering, how do you have multiple pictures in your blog? I’m still trying to figure that out

    1. When you go to add media (as in your images) you can select multiple at one time and can select how you want these to appear like thumbnails, squares, or slideshows. Obviously it depends on what you are wanting it to look like and how many images you want shown at one time. Hope that helps.

  4. You got an amazing amount of gaming done in such a short month! I know the state of ” I don’t know what to play” jumping from one to the other. I always hate when that happens, I much more prefer it when you find yourself feverishly wanting to go back to a game while you have to work or study!

    1. Thanks, by actual time spent on each game it probably wasn’t much on most of those games. I am hoping this month I can stick to a game (or at least only a few) rather than flicking between so many. I’ve got a few shorter games that I’m hoping to get round to at some point soon which might be more productive for me as I’m still a bit in the “don’t know what to play” mindset. I much prefer being like I really want to play this and looking forward to a time where you can play a specific game.

      1. Yeah, I know what you mean. I always say that I go where my gaming mood takes me, and nothing beats being obsessed by a game. Still, that feeling comes and goes at will, it seems!
